Accreditation, explained
IEB, ISASA, Umalusi, GDE, OISESA: what’s the actual difference?
IEB (Independent Examinations Board) sets and marks the Matric exams. Umalusi is the national council that accredits the IEB’s qualifications, so an IEB Matric carries the same legal standing as the state NSC. ISASA is the professional association for independent schools. GDE (Gauteng Dept of Education) is the provincial registration every independent school is legally required to hold. OISESA (Office of Independent Schools Evaluations Southern Africa) is the quality-assurance body that evaluates ISASA-member schools on a recurring cycle.
Is an IEB Matric recognised for university entry?
Yes, Umalusi accreditation means an IEB National Senior Certificate is treated the same as any other accredited NSC for university and college admission in South Africa.
Is the school legally registered, or just “IEB-affiliated”?
Both: GDE registration is the legal registration to operate as a school; IEB/Umalusi/ISASA are separate accreditation and membership layers on top of that.
Fees & payments, in detail
Do the payment discounts stack: can I get Early Bird and the sibling discount?
The published discounts (termly, annual, Early Bird, sibling) are listed separately rather than as a combined rate: confirm with Admissions whether they stack for your specific case before budgeting on it.
Does every sibling get the sibling discount, or just one?
Just the youngest sibling in the family: it’s a 2% discount on that one child’s fees, not applied across all siblings.
What’s the actual difference between the Registration Fee and the Curriculum Fee?
The Registration Fee (once-off) covers capital development and your child’s initial uniform + school bag. The Annual Curriculum Fee (varies by grade, due every 1 January) covers the recurring year-to-year costs: stationery, textbooks, printing, ISASA/IEB membership, outings, and camp.
Is the Trial Week fee refundable, or deductible from tuition if we enrol?
The R1,500 Trial Week fee is not refundable if you decide not to enrol, but if it leads to a successful enrolment, that R1,500 is deducted from your first month’s fees.
Admissions logistics
Can we apply mid-year, or only at the start of a term?
Any term, any time of year, for Grades 4–11: the four-step admissions process (Enquire → Meet the Deputy Head → Trial Week → Acceptance Letter) doesn’t wait for a January intake. Matric (Grade 12) is the one exception: see below.
Can a student join in Grade 12 (Matric)?
Yes, two ways: complete the Trial Week during Grade 11 to join at the start of Matric year, or if you’re considering joining within Matric year itself, the Trial Week must happen in January, no later than early February: we don’t accept new Matrics after that cutoff. Grades 4–11 remain open for admission at any time of year.
Do you have more than one campus?
No, Education Incorporated runs from a single campus, so there’s no need to work out which site your child would be on.
Do you accept transfers from other curricula (CAPS, Cambridge, etc.)?
Yes, students moving from any other accepted curriculum are welcomed at Education Incorporated. The Trial Week is exactly how that transition gets assessed.
